高１PS（Peace Studies）：カンボジア学習第２回

高校１年生はカンボジアについて学びます！
講演「カンボジアの内戦について」
本日の高校１年生のPSでは、カンボジア王立プノンペン大学の大学生のオク・ソッケンさんと本校の卒業生の礒部由美さんに、カンボジアの内戦についての講演をしていただきました。
ソッケンさんは、ポル・ポトの行った粛清の実際を、自身の家族の経験をもとに語ってくれました。また、カンボジアを蓮に例え、泥の中でもきれいな花を咲かせる蓮のようにカンボジアを発展させたいと語ってくれました。
礒部さんは、教科書で学べることはごく一部で、自ら学習し、実際に現地に行くなどして、はじめて本当の意味を知ることが出来ると語ってくれました。

「カンボジアにも悲惨な歴史があった。そのことをきちんと受け止めて深く考えたい」
「今までの歴史の中で、ひどいことをされたのはヒロシマだけではないことをあらためて思い知らされた。」
「カンボジアとヒロシマは重なるところがある。過去のことを忘れないように伝えることは大切だと思った」
「ヒロシマにいる私たちが、ヒロシマのことを語れるようにしたい」
カンボジアの歴史についての学びを、ヒロシマのことや自分のことに結びつけ考察した生徒が多くみられました。
「異文化理解は自己理解に通じている」といわれます。
ヒロシマにいる私たちがカンボジアについて学ぶ意義を見出すことができました。
カンボジア学習は今後も続きます！
10th Grade Peace Studies: Cambodia Study Part2
Lecture “the Cambodian Civil War”
Today, at 10th Grade PS, we had lectures on Cambodian civil war by Mr Sokhen Ouk from Royal University of Phnom Penh in Cambodia and our alumnae, Ms Yumi Isobe.
Mr Ouk talked about the reality of the purge by Pol Pot based on what happend to his family. He also metaphorically explained Cambodia as lotuses and he wished to support the development of Cambodia as if lotuses bloom in mud.
Ms Isobe talked about what you can learn from textbooks were only one part and it was only when you have a mind to study by yourself and to visit places, you can discover the real meanings of the matter.

“There was a horrible history in Cambodia too. I would like to think further facing the fact.”
“Cambodia and Hiroshima have similarity. I thought it was important to remember and pass down the past.”
“I would like to be able to tell about Hiroshima as I live in Hiroshima.”
There were many students linked the study of Cambodian history to history of Hiroshima and themselves. Cross-cultural understanding leads to self-awareness. We found the meanings of learning Cambodia while we live in Hiroshima.
